Dad stabbed to death 15 mins after leaving his newborn baby

A father was stabbed to death on his way to work a night shift just 15 minutes after leaving his newborn baby at home.

A murder investigation has been launched after the 24-year-old man was found with stab injuries inside a silver VW Polo in north-west London on Saturday night.

Police were called to the scene in Parson Street, Hendon, just after 9pm after reports the vehicle had crashed into another parked car. Detectives believe the victim, from Edgware, was attacked in a nearby car park minutes before the collision.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge said: ‘The victim was arriving at the car park, in order to travel to work for a night shift. ‘He had just left his girlfriend and newborn baby at home in Edgware 15 minutes earlier.’

The victim, who has not been named by police, was taken to hospital but later died.

His family have been told.

No arrests have been made and the Metropolitan Police are appealing for witnesses.
