Toyin Abraham denies replacing Funke Akindele, says none of us are ambassadors

Toyin Abraham has denied replacing Akindele as an ambassador for the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Speaking with a magazine shortly after she was unveiled as the face of their new campaign. Toyin said NCDC never had an ambassador, and even she herself only ran a campaign for them.

Her publicist, Samuel Olatunji also released a statement on her behalf explaining how it happened. This became necessary, as Funke Akindele's fans took to social media to mock Toyin saying she took advantage of a bad situation.

The statement; “It has just been brought to my attention that blogs are reporting that I am now NCDC ambassador.  Implying that I have been used to replace a colleague.  That line of thought necessitate I put this out there. I am not an ambassador to NCDC. I do not like the narrative that I am trying to take advantage of a bad situation. I support the campaign against Covid-19, I appeared on a video campaign against the pandemic but please let’s not drag another person down. Thank you.''
